Really Jim, are you kidding me, this is all you got. You do some really good work on local sports coverage and I respect you for that but this kid signed a contract with an English Premier League Club... The English Premier league. It is regarded as at least one of the best professional leagues in the world and a kid from our little town signs and this is all you got.

Are you miffed because he is turning his back on Knights soccer? You spilled more ink on the Mount Madonna boys volleyball team being undefeated in league play and the back and forth play of Gavilan vs Cabrillo baseball. I'm sure all those are fascinating subjects of sports journalism, however, I think a kid from our town going to the premier league might be a more remarkable event. How about two kids from Northern California playing against each other in the premier youth leagues. Liverpool just signed the Pelosi kid from just over the hill.

Don't get me wrong the local kid going to practice at Colorado State after getting stabbed is really good stuff but this is most likely a once in a lifetime event and I think it might warrant an additional line or two.

I heard that Soquel High would have been in the playoffs instead of SLV but Zuniga didn't fill out the paper work to get the team in. Also that Myers would be back next year for Soquel! any truth to either?

You should have the coach call the sports department immediately following games. That would be the best way to get stuff in the paper, Marisol. We simply don't have the staffing, especially during CCS playoff time, to be on top of every organized function going on. But with the community's help, sending schedules and calling in results, it will help ease the burden. Thanks for reading the Sentinel and expressing your concern/interest for local sports coverage.

I was wondering why there are no articles about the Santa Cruz Pop Warner Football Team, the Sea Hawks? We just won the 2009 Conference Championship and we are now moving on t0 the Regional Championship. It would be great to let everyone know how hard they have worked to get where they are. Many of the boys have been playing ball together for 5 or more years and a lot of them will be moving on to high school next year. I look forward to reading something in the near future. Thank you for your support.

I didn't think it was possible either, especially since Soquel won the head-to-head meeting. But St. Francis had more power points, so it got in.

How can St. Francis, non-league champ leapfrog Soquel, a Co-League Champ and get into CCS? I am pretty sure there is a rule that forbids this.

I have seen a lot of fameous athletes that are now selling their worn socks. It is hard to believe that their are people that will buy these worn socks. Is their anybody out their that will buy my worn socks?

I've seen some athletes are selling their worn socks on auctions now. I guess it is for charity but it is amazing what people will buy. Maybe somebody will buy my worn socks. I could really use the money LOL.

Leon Johnson of Aptos scored his first hole-in-one at Pajaro Valley's 153 yard 7th on Sunday, Oct 19th. He used a 7 iron to record the ace on a fog-shrouded green.

SCHS and Santa Cruz Baseball School are hosting a FREE Baseball Clinic, this Sat 1/10, for all little leaguers (up to age 12). The clinic will begin @ 1:30 @ Dodge Field (on the Santa Cruz High campus).

We hope we'll have a HUGE turnout, as we will be introducing and reviewing skill and technique.

Also, @ 11am on Sat @ Dodge Field, we will be hosting a coaches clinic. This clinic is desgined to provide baseball specific teaching techniques, practice ideas, and practice techniques.

All of these clinics are free of charge, open to anyone, and sponsored by Santa Cruz Baseball School. Hope to see everyone out there.
